What kind of conference this is
Enlightenment Day is an annual conference on spirituality, consciousness and the wisdom traditions. It has run every October since 2023. It brings practitioners and scholars onto the same programme: yogis and monks alongside professors of religion, physicians and writers. Talks are given in English.
The conference has its roots in the Sanatana traditions of India, and past programmes have included Tantra, Yoga, Vedanta, the Nath tradition, Baul song, Buddhism and mindfulness, plant medicine traditions of the Amazon, and the dialogue between science and religion. The 2026 theme widens the frame to enlightening experiences across the world's faiths.
Who it is for
- People with a meditation, yoga or prayer practice who want to hear how other traditions describe the same ground.
- Students and teachers of religion, philosophy, psychology and consciousness studies.
- People involved in interfaith work.
- Anyone curious about what enlightenment and spiritual awakening mean and unsure where to begin. The page what is enlightenment is written for you.

Propose a talk
We welcome proposals from teachers, scholars and practitioners of any tradition. A good proposal for this year does two things: it describes an enlightening experience as your tradition understands it, and it says what that experience asks of a person in the world.
Past conferences
Enlightenment Day 2023 was held online over two days. Enlightenment Day 2024 had an online day and two days in London. Enlightenment Day 2025 was online, hosted with the Spirituality Happiness Institute. Speakers and sessions for each year are on the past conferences page.
